Diagnosis: Differential
Two similar patterns and one finding that decides. 15 activities, about 14 minutes.

Look for what separates, not what they share
Two similar patterns share almost everything. Listing what is common decides nothing: you have to find the finding that appears in one and is missing from the other, and check whether it is there.
- Insomnia and palpitations
- shared: decides nothing
- Red tongue without coating
- Yin deficiency only
- Pallor and dizziness
- Blood deficiency only
Common mistake: Picking the pattern that explains the most symptoms rather than the one that explains the separating ones.

Order the steps of a differential.
- Gather every finding, discarding none
- Propose the two or three compatible patterns
- Identify the sign present in one and absent in another
- Check whether that sign is there
- Write the full diagnosis
