About us
Medicina China Hoy is an independent educational guide that explains Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in English, and the website of the app of the same name. Here you get, for free, the same content as in the app: acupuncture points, meridians, herbs, dietary therapy, qigong, exercises and practice cases. Our approach is clear: tell accurately what tradition says and, separately, what science says.
How we create our content
Every page goes through the same steps:
- We start from the reference works. Points, meridians, syndromes and herbs are based on TCM reference texts, such as Peter Deadman's acupuncture manual and the works of Giovanni Maciocia. The full list is in Sources.
- We explain it so it can be understood. Every concept is told in plain English, with its Chinese name (hanzi and pinyin) and examples, without assuming you know the technical vocabulary.
- We check it. All content is reviewed: we check that locations, functions, indications and exercise answers match the sources and are consistent with each other. We are not healthcare professionals, but students and communicators of Chinese medicine, and every page is designed so that anyone can learn from it.
- We separate tradition and evidence. Traditional concepts (Qi, meridians, five elements) are presented as what they are: a historical explanatory framework. When we talk about effectiveness, we rely on systematic reviews, clinical guidelines and recognized bodies.
- We put safety first. Every therapy includes known risks, contraindications and interactions. No page promises cures or recommends stopping or replacing a medical treatment.
The date of the last review appears on every page. If you spot an error, write to us at hola@medicinatradicionalchina.com and we will correct it.
Who is behind it
Medicina China Hoy and its app are made by Alberto Lanchas, an independent app developer in Spain. The characters who guide you through the website and the app are our mascots; their illustrations are original and were created with the help of artificial intelligence tools.
The content is informational and educational. It does not replace a consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.
