Protocol for insomnia and light sleep with Shen-calming points

Anmian + HT7 + SP6 Protocol

Combination of Anmian (Extra - 'Peace for sleep'), Shenmen (HT-7) and Sanyinjiao (SP-6) to nourish Yin, calm Shen and promote restorative sleep. Ideal before bed.

Sleep in TCM

Sleep depends on Yin-Yang balance and Shen resting in the Heart. Insomnia often from restless Shen, Yin/blood deficiency, or heat disturbance. These points calm and nourish.

Anmian (安眠 - Extra)

Extra-meridian point. 'Peace for sleeping'. Calms Shen, treats insomnia.

Shenmen (神门 - HT-7)

Calms Shen directly. Nourishes Heart for spirit to rest.

Sanyinjiao (三阴交 - SP-6)

Meeting of three Yin. Nourishes blood and Yin. Essential for deficiency insomnia.

Step by step

  1. Anmian (安眠) Bilateral

    Anmian is specific for insomnia. Behind the ear.

    Duration
    2 minutes
    • Do in bed before sleep
    • Cumulative effect with regular use
  2. Shenmen (HT-7) Bilateral

    HT-7 calms Shen to rest in the Heart.

    Duration
    2 minutes
    • Hold 60-90 seconds each side
    • Visualize darkness and stillness
  3. Sanyinjiao (SP-6) Bilateral

    SP-6 nourishes three Yin meridians. Essential for blood deficiency insomnia.

    Duration
    2 minutes
    • Can apply with legs elevated
    • Potent effect - don't exceed 3 min per side if sensitive

Night Integration

  • Keep minimal light
  • 4-7-8 breathing until asleep
  • Avoid checking phone if you wake
  • Repeat Anmian if night awakening

Contraindications

  • Avoid SP-6 in pregnancy
  • Do not apply with severe hypotension
